about me
I came to this profession via a long and winding path. This is not my first career, but I like to think that it is my life’s vocation. I have worked in the healing arts since I was 14, where I started my first job experience in a veterinary hospital. From there, I worked as a licensed massage therapist, a nanny, a doula, and a licensed practical nurse. As a nurse, I worked with mothers and newborns in the hospital setting for 14 years.
It was in this profession where I learned that what I enjoyed most, and where I excelled furthest, was helping people feel valued and heard. I discovered that what people need most is to tell their story to someone willing to listen and to encourage them to find meaning in their experiences.
This is what I do. I listen from a place of deepest respect and appreciation for the process of finding value and beauty in the struggle. I do so from a visceral understanding of the courage it takes to do the work of therapy. Although I have years of education and experience that qualifies me in this profession, I believe it is my own personal journey with analysis that gives me the empathy to fully understand what I am asking others to do.
I welcome the opportunity to share in your journey and to celebrate the steps you take towards a more meaningful life.
Education
I attended Antioch University, Seattle, WA. where I earned a BA in Psychology and Spirituality in 2009, and was awarded a Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in 2013.
